The 2026 Wally Anskaitis Cup is ready to set Avalon Raceway alight

The motorsport community is gearing up for an unforgettable night of racing as the Wally Anskaitis Cup returns at Avalon Raceway. Sharing the spotlight with the 2026 Victorian Super Sedan Title, this Blue Ribbon even is a highlight of the GP Midget calendar each year and there will be plenty of on-track fireworks.

The Wally Anskaitis Cup is not just a race, it’s a celebration of legacy. Wally Anskaitis, was a cornerstone of the Grand Prix Midget Racing Club throughout the late 80's and 90's, played a vital role in shaping the sport and along with other members of the club helped in constructing the iconic concrete wall that still stands at Avalon Raceway today. Returning to this historic venue, where the club’s story began, adds emotional resonance for competitors and spectators alike.

11 nominations include an impressive roster of talent: Newly crowned Australian Champion Mark Cecil & defending Cup winner Terry Brown headline nominations for the event, whilst Chris Fowler & Alex Myers would love nothing more than to etch their names into the history books as feature winners at Avalon.

Paul Perry is seeking to go one spot better than in 2025, whilst Daniel Meredith & Mark Blackeby are keen to put in a strong performance in front of the masses.

Locky Robotham & Lilly Bullock's experience in go-karts around Avalon will get put to use but will have to bring their A-game onto the big track. Travis Florrimell is the inaugural winner back in 2019 would dearly love to turn back the clock and become a 2-time winner of the event. Warrick Spooner got his feet wet back in a GP last weekend stepping into the Matt Kamolins machine and looking to put in a repeat performance.

With such a strong lineup, fans can expect intense racing all night long. Make sure you come down to the pits prior to racing for the pit walk from 4pm to grab a poster, get a photo with your favourite car/driver.
