The Victorian Grand Prix Midget Racing Association (VGPMRA) is gearing up for an unmissable night of high-speed thrills at Wangaratta Speedway this Saturday, April 12th, as drivers take to the track for the final race before the Australian Title later this month at Wahgunyah Speedway. Drivers wont be thinking that far ahead as the Stinger Chassis Masters Series is really starting to heat up with only a couple of rounds to go and competition so tight. With so much at stake, fans can expect intense action as the lineup of talented competitors battle it out to secure momentum heading into the national championship.
Among the racers is Alex Myers (V11), this year’s Wangaratta Cup victor, aims to deliver another stunning performance and cement his place as one of the contenders for the Australian Title. Chris Fowler (V13), the reigning Masters Series champion, who hasn't had all the luck go his way this season and will be looking to claw back some points with yet another strong result. Locky Robotham (V50), the rookie who currently sits in second only 9 points adrift of Myers is eager to make his presence felt will certainly be one to keep your eye one.
Luke Ward (V7), one of the emerging talents in GP Midget racing, is eager to showcase his skills, while Mark Cecil (V3), ex-Australian and Victorian champion has recently made his return to the seat of a GP Midget is no slouch behind the wheel and prepared to challenge for a podium finish. Travis Florrimell (V81), renowned for his dynamic driving style, brings excitement to the field, while Daniel Meredith (V5), jumps into the Pitstop Mowers car to continue his season. Matt Kamolins (V22), who has shown impressive speed in recent rounds, is also positioned to make a strong impact.
The nominations also include Paul Perry (V33), another ex-champion whose competitive edge is always on display, alongside Mark Blackeby (V10), a driver with the ability to push the limits and thrill the crowd. Johnny Rouse (V32), and Shawn Ward (V44), known for his resilience and tenacity, round out the diverse field of drivers vying for victory.
Gates at Wangaratta Speedway open at 11 AM, with racing beginning at 4 PM, so fans are encouraged to arrive early to soak in the pre-race atmosphere, meet the drivers, and see the cars up close. Tickets will be available at the gate for what promises to be a night filled with adrenaline-pumping action.
