WANGARATTA CUP TO BE A HEATED ONE AS THE BATTLE OF CHASSIS MANUFACTURERS HEATS UP
This Saturday night will see the third running of the Wangaratta Cup and it will be last year's winner Trevor Perry that will go in as a red hot favourite. Perry is fresh off his victory in last weekend's Australian Title that saw the post race speeches ramp up the rivalry between his Perry Bros Chassis and the Stinger chassis which has been dominant for the past 15years. Perry's main competition in the Stinger chassis' will come from Aus #2 Travis Florimell and Aus #3 Jason Crawford who were both impressive last week however they just couldn't get the job done. Former Australian Champion Paul Perry will fly the flag for the Perry Bros team although he hasn't had much luck at the track this season he will certainly be looking to put the V6 on the podium this weekend.
Outside of the manufacturers battle is the current Ballistics Performance Parts Masters Series points leader Lisa Chalcraft, Lisa currently holds an 11point lead over Perry and after an incident late in the race last weekend that saw her do substantial damage to her car she will be out for redemption and could well surprise to put a spanner in the works of the Perry Bros and Stingers rivalry Chris Fowler a former Wangaratta Cup winner was off the pace last week however Wangaratta is a track that he seems to like and usually performs well at and he will be concentrating on keeping his points gap on Sean Denning who currently sits 5th in points in the series. Denning finished a solid 7th place in last week's Aus title and hopes to keep that form going. David Bacon has been improving and will again be driving his Perry Bros Chassis and ironing out the gremlins whilst Mark Blackeby continues to sort out the V10 car. If you thought that the action was furious last weekend then wait until you see this battle and how it develops as we get to the back end of this season. Once all the action of the GP Midgets is done and dusted then you can then sit back and enjoy the crashes and bashes of the Demolition Derby. Racing starts at the earlier time of 3pm this week so get there early to get a good seat.
