Avalon to kick season off with Jason Glynn Memorial
The Victorian GP Midget season kicks into gear this Saturday night with the annual Jason Glynn Memorial supported by Pitstop Mowers in conjunction with Jim Phillips. A field of 10 cars will contest the blue ribbon event at Avalon Raceway with further cars to hit the track in the next month or so. The Victorian GP Midget class is looking quite healthy this season with new cars that have been built, new car owners and returning drivers to the class. Last season's Jason Glynn Memorial winner Trevor Perry will be looking to go back to back again this year in his Perry Bros Chassis backed #55, whilst his brother and current Australian Champion Paul Perry will be looking to take the family bragging rights. Saturday night is not only the Jason Glynn Memorial but the first round of the Ballistic Performance Parts Masters Series and defending series champion Jason Crawford will be looking to get his and the Pitstop Mowers season off to a great start as will his team mate Sean Denning in the V5 machine. Lisa Chalcraft and comes off another strong performance last season, she is a previous Jason Glynn winner so she knows what it takes and always puts in a good performance at Avalon. The JF Racing team will run two cars again this season with Chris Fowler in the #13 and Marty Job in the #31. However, Marty will have the training wheels off this season as he moves into a Stinger Chassis.
David Bacon will be in the mix in the #36 again this season whilst son Hayden has not nominated for the event but should be out later in the season. Returning to the GP Midgets ranks is ex Victorian Champion Mark Cecil who has bought his old chassis back and is looking forward to having some fun but will certainly be at the pointy end in his #7 this season. The club would like to welcome new members Greg Campbell and Michael Coad to the club. Greg has purchase the ex Garry Cassidy #9 and is very excited to get out and play with the boys as is Michael Coad in the #44 car. The racing will be hot with all drivers looking to start their season with a win. Avalon raceway has put together a bumper program of racing for Saturday night you will certainly get your money's worth.
